About Me

I’m a writer with a Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies from the University of Toronto. I have a keen interest in the Korean language and global cultures.

I aspire to craft stories blending history and fantasy using my academic knowledge and my upbringing growing up half-Vietnamese in Toronto, Canada. On this website I’ll share my experiences and insights gathered during my travels around Asia in the summer of 2023 through collections of stories and articles.

My hope is to bring joy to readers and evoke a diverse range of emotions through my stories. Keep reading to discover my journey to this point.

My Journey

Childhood

Ever since I got my hands on a computer at the tender age of four, I found my outlet in writing and crafting fantasy worlds that I longed to live in. Some adults dismissed me as a daydreamer, but I have harnessed that gift to bring more adventure into the lives of my friends. Whether it was turning recess into a quest or staging dramatic performances with my stuffed animal cast, I always found a way to infuse whimsy and wonder into everyday life.

Online Comics

During my middle school years, my passion for writing flourished, and I stumbled upon a website where I could create and post comics online. Under the pseudonym “mollz,” I became a creator and found success with several series, including my most popular one, Worst Case Scenario. This ensemble piece followed a group of Japanese high school students as they navigated family drama, school conflicts, and a whole host of love triangles. Unfortunately, the website shut down in 2016, and all of the incredible works posted there were lost. But I refused to let that stop me from sharing my voice and continuing to create.

At A Snag

During my first run of university, I pursued a Bachelor of Business Administration degree to satisfy my parents’ expectations. However, I quickly realized that it wasn’t the right path for me. Seeking an escape, I enrolled in a Creative Writing minor program, which became a lifeline for me. With newfound clarity, I decided to take a leap of faith and follow my true passions. I left the business program behind and pursued a degree in East Asian Studies. Throughout my studies, I continued to hone my writing skills, exploring different genres and experimenting with styles.

Where I'm Headed

Even though I’ve been focusing on writing short stories in school, I haven’t forgotten about the joy I experienced creating comics online. To challenge myself, I’m currently working on a manuscript for a webcomic that I’m excited to share updates on as it unfolds.
